Evaluation - How Well Do The Media Texts Go Together In Your Project?

The media text in our projects go well together. They all consist of similar elements that can be found within the music video, website and cd cover.

The website utilizes a colour scheme that contrasts from its dark house style. In particular the text consists of three different colours - red, white and green. These colours represent how the artist is moving away from a delinquent lifestyle and advocates a sense of hope. Linking this with the music video, the genre is prominent that this is a parody. Through are controversy graveyard scene the artist is depicted in a better light.
This reinforces the effect that the website has created and the link between the two projects. In addition, the website also advertises our video with the pictures we have deployed emphasising his new song that he has made. One of the pictures specifically shows the artists within a graveyard - which is mirrored within the video. Furthermore the website provides the fans a place to view and keep updated with the artist. This is done through the links between social networking sights and posts of new music. Ultimately this provides a accessible way for the audience to view our music video.

Similar techniques are exhibited with the cd cover. The colour scheme is parallel to  the website. Through this we have created a consistency that makes are product more professional and links in with other products.
Moreover, the image on the cd cover is also on the website which shows how both products are current in the artists work. The hoodie the artists is also wearing is seen within the video and likewise with the back cover, the artist is performing the act of recreational drugs and this displayed also within the first few sevens of the music video.

Construction - Editing Tutorial

After we wanted to add some effects onto the music video. so we added a lightly at the back on the screen while Aaron was rapping.

This was a screenshot of the clip before any change was made to it.

The effect that we used was called "Lighting Effect", this allowed us to implement exactly what we wanted. We did try other effects to see which was better however we did decide on using this instead.

These are the settings that we ended up using for that part off the clip. It originally wasn't in the right location or going where we wanted, so we had to make sure that it didn't go off the frame like it did when we put it in.

(How the clip looked with the effect)

We after changed the setting and found that we could moving the lighting. This allowed us to make the lightning strike look a lot better and actually make it strike down using key frames.

Construction - Reflection - General

Our chief editor had discovered that one of our green screen shots were not at the standard of quality. It gave our music video an inconsistency which is not worth jeopardising our final grade. We tried to get around this problem by changing the contracts and lighting of the shot - it was no use. To overcome this we are planning to re shoot this scene on a later date. However, apart from this problem the editing has been excellent. All of our shots have been imputed into premiere and successfully cut into place in time with the music

Construction - Reflection - 4th day of filming

We went up the drama studio in our 6th form , for our fourth day of filming. I'm the drama studio we intend to film all the green screen shots required for are music video. We are implementing the green screen as one of our advanced editing techniques to achieve the highest grade we can.
We used are time well and managed to complete are filming in the strict time frame we had in the drama studio. The shots we produced are looking pivotal to are music video as they add diversity to our shots. In addition, as we had the chance to be in a studio we took advantage of one of the booths to get a shot of the artist producing music. This wil advocate intertextuality.
Furthermore, the green screen we are looking to produce is an urban background to reinforce the culture that rap is associated with. Also we are looking into a way to make the green screen original by creating a black and white image instead of the cliche green screen shot.

Construction - Reflection - 5th day of filming

After looking through our music video, we noticed that there were some clips that were shaking so much and some clips that needed replacing. So we decided to go out and refilm some of those clips so we could have a decent video done without any shaking.

After taking a couple shots we were able to get some that were not shaking as much as before. However since it was extremely windy there was still a small bit of shaking.

Along with this we also tried out a 360 approach to the clips. When Aaron raps one of the scenes we got him to hold the camera up and spin round while he is rapping. This would help give a diverse range if shots and get the audience to focus in the main rapper. Furthermore it also shows that the background is blurred for him and his just sees what he wants to see.

After getting the graveyard scenes redone we walked down the street to get some more filler shots. We got a shot where he was taking money while he was In the middle of rapping. While we were on the way back on the bus we thought we could get a couple shots on the bus and try incorporate it within the video.

In Terms of editing we are up to date and we are getting the videos while we are getting all the shots.

Construction - Reflection - Research

In order to create the best possible music video we as a group did a bit of research into other videos of our chosen type. We focused on other rap videos on YouTube to see what we can incoporate into our own video.

An example we looked at was the original video of Gansta's paradise and picked out what type of shots and angles were put in and to what effect. We noticed that  the shots were quick, not lasting more than 5 seconds each and thee was a variation. This has helped us to figure out the shots we are going to use in our video. Particularly one shot that stood out was the low angle shot. We have decided that we will use this shot to good effect in our video as it portrays connotation of dominance and power to the artist. In a rap video that is the kind of image the audience is looking for within the artist.

The shots we have gathered are similar to the ones we had seen in other videos. It was a productive day of filming  and We are confident that they will give the effect of supremacy as it had done on other music videos.
